January 22 – A lameness management workshop is being held at Mataura, Southland. It is one of many workshops being run around the country by the Dairy Hoof Care Institute and involves five online learning modules before the practical trimming day. January 22-24 – The New Zealand Dairy Event is held at Manfeild Park in Feilding and promotes excellence in the dairy industry with the emphasis on breeding. It includes a successful youth section and attracts competitors from around the country. More? Go to www.nzdairyevent.nz.

February 2 – A contract milking course is being run by Dairy Training Ltd (DTL) in Ashburton. The four-day in-person course covers contract milking responsibilities, the viability of contract and navigating potential risks to set up for success. More? February 7 – A progression management course being held in Hawera is aimed at improving how you interact and manage your team, get up to speed with industry tools and technology, identify areas of improvement on the farm and take control of your financial situation. February 7 – DTL is running a business by numbers course in Nelson to provide practical techniques and confidence for managing numbers in an agribusiness. The course is run in three part-days and steps participants through the process of preparing and monitoring accurate farm budgets to stay on top of farm finances. More? February 14-16 – The Southern Field Days in Waimumu, Gore, will showcase the latest in rural machinery and technology as well as run a host of rural events. For more details go to
